Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Aug. 13 with 23 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “An Hour in the Garden,” recited by a ember. A member celebrated a birthday this month.

Two members were welcomed back. Refreshments were served with snacks and drinks provided. The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays form the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. The board meeting is at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Zion — Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Valley Christian School begins the new school year on Aug. 24.

Blood drive

Zion Stone Church in Snyders will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 30 by appointment only. Some time periods are open. Donors do not have to be a member of the church. Contact Miller Keystone at 800-223-6667, ext. 2, and use code 5875 to schedule an appointment.

Calvary — Lewistown

Pastor Debra Rogers will bring the message at the 11 a.m. Sunday service for Calvary Evangelical Church. There will be special music provided by Wendell and Beverly Heisler. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening service or Wednesday prayer meeting.

The congregation worships at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle during the summer. The annual Lewistown Valley Tabernacle camp meeting will begin Aug. 28 and continue to Sept. 7. All are invited.

Indoor sale

An indoor sale to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 27-30 at the East End Fire Company in Tamaqua.

Rummage sale

St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will have a special rummage sale beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 2. It will include quilts, blankets, bed sheet sets, towels, shower curtains, throw carpets, curtains, assorted clothing and shoes.

The church will hold its “normal” rummage sale in October at a date to be announced.
