The North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program has announced sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols will be conducted starting today and continuing through Aug. 27 on various roads in Carbon County.
Lehighton Borough Police Department will again partner with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
The goal is to deter impaired driving and prevent vehicular tragedies from happening.
Lehighton Police Department will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols during that time frame on routes 209, 248, 443, 902, 903 and 54.
The checkpoints are part of the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program. The sobriety checkpoints and the Underage Drinking Enforcement Program are funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and NHTSA.
Lehighton Borough Police ask that if you suspect a person is driving while intoxicated to call 911. To report underage drinking call 1-888-UNDER21.
Enjoy the remaining summer weather, but plan ahead if you intend to consume alcohol and need a way to get home safely. Don’t endanger your family or others by making a poor decision and driving while impaired.
