Deana Carter, Ryan Pelton at Penn’s Peak
Country music singer-songwriter Deana Carter will perform at Penn’s Peak at 8 p.m. Oct. 22.
Carter is best known for her 1996 debut album, “Did I Shave My Legs for This?,” which included the hit single “Strawberry Wine.”
The album reached multiplatinum status and produced three consecutive No. 1 country singles.
A Nashville native, Carter is the daughter of guitarist and producer Fred Carter Jr. She began her career as a songwriter before signing with Capitol Records. In 1994, she appeared at Farm Aid VII alongside artists including Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson and Neil Young.
Since her debut, Carter has released several albums, including “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” “I’m Just a Girl,” “The Story of My Life,” “The Chain” and “Southern Way of Life.” She also founded Little Nugget Records, her independent label. In addition to her recording career, Carter co-wrote “You & Tequila,” recorded by Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter. The song received nominations from the Grammy Awards, Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music.
Pelton
“Ryan Pelton: An Elvis Christmas Show,” will be on stage Dec. 5, at 8 p.m.
Pelton is an international, award winning, Elvis tribute artist, actor, and singer/songwriter. He often refers to himself as the “Forrest Gump” of the ETA world, and claims to have been blessed with an extraordinary amount of dumb luck.
In September 1998, Pelton was dared by his mother to enter a local Elvis contest in Columbus, Ohio. At the time, he was building websites for a living. Pelton didn’t grow up in an “Elvis” household. He knew little about the King of rock ’n’ roll, except that adults in public often said he looked like a “young Elvis” growing up.
Over the next decade, Pelton honed his craft becoming an international, award-winning Elvis tribute artist. In 2001, Pelton was declared the “World Champion” when he won the Worldwide Images of the King Contest in Memphis, Tennessee. He has performed all over the world, from casinos to fairs, theaters to festivals, production shows to professional sports arenas. Entertaining audiences in the tens-of-thousands, there can be no doubt that Ryan Pelton is the rarest kind of performer — living up to his billing time and time again.
Tickets for both shows are on sale through Ticketmaster outlets and at the Penn’s Peak box office and Roadies Restaurant and Bar. Penn’s Peak and Roadies ticket sales are available by walk-up purchase only.
Penn’s Peak is located in Jim Thorpe and has a capacity of approximately 1,800 concertgoers.
