SH man faces charges after domestic incident

A Summit Hill man faces multiple charges following a domestic dispute Wednesday morning.

Luis Serrano, 38, of West Fell Street, was arraigned by District Judge Beth Dodson on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment and committed to the Carbon County prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

According to court papers, Summit Hill police received a report of a domestic disturbance with a female being choked. Officers observed red marks and scratches on the victim’s neck.

The victim told police that it was a dispute over Wi-Fi, which Serrano had disconnected. The victim went to start Wi-Fi up and Serrano grabbed her, slammed her to the floor and placed her in a choke hold with his arm, court papers said.

Police also spoke to witnesses about the incident, and Serrano was taken into custody. Serrano refused to give police a statement without an attorney, police said.
