Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Aug. 6 with 21 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Radiance of a New Day,” recited by a member.

The group asked for prayers for one member.

Machamer gave each member a treat. The meeting closed and refreshments were served. Bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays from the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have the blessing of the backpacks and teacher work bags. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. The church board meeting is at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Rummage Sale

St. John United Church of Christ, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will have a special rummage sale beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 2. The sale will include quilts, blankets, bed sheet sets, towels, shower curtains, throw carpets, curtains, assorted curtains and shoes. More information will be released at a later date.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on Aug. 11 with 29 members present.

President Jayne McLaughlin opened the meeting with the invocation, “On Bended Knee,” read by a member.

Two members are celebrating birthdays in August. A member brought napkins.

The group chanced off an assortment of Halloween items and a gift card, which was won by a member.

Refreshments, including drinks and snacks were served. The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 in Christ Church in Barnesville.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb Rogers will lead the 11 a.m. Sunday service for Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. There will be special music presented along with hymns of praise and worship. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

There will be no Sunday evening services. The prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

For the summer, all services are held from the tabernacle at 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. The adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
