An Albrightsville man has been charged with biting off another person’s pinky during an assault recently in Penn Forest Township.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Charles McFeeley of the Pennsylvania State Police, Fern Ridge barracks, in the case against Rayan Green:

At 10:11 p.m. on July 26, troopers of PSP Fern Ridge responded to Chippewa Trail for a reported assault.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the defendant, Green, 28, assaulted the victim inside the kitchen of the residence.

The investigation revealed Green knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly struck the victim in the face and head.

During the assault, Green bit off the victim’s right pinky finger, causing a partial amputation.

The victim was then able to flee the residence to Mattawa Trail, Penn Forest Township, and await ambulance and police.

While responding, Trooper Alex Azambuja and McFeeley subsequently located Green walking on Old Stage Road near Lackawanna Trail covered in blood with no apparent injury.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton Ambulance Advanced Life Support for extensive injuries, including both eyes swollen shut, a large hematoma to the top of the head, bleeding from the mouth, and a partial amputation of the right pinky finger.

The victim was later flown via air medical helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Cedar Crest, for injuries sustained from this assault.

Green faces charges on two counts of simple assault, and one count each of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
