State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at Frackville reported the following crashes:

• Thomas Jones, 63, of Ashland, was not injured when the 2012 Ford Edge he was driving hit a utility pole along Zion Grove Road in Union Township at 9:31 p.m. July 4 after hydroplaning due to heavy rains, police said.

Jones was cited after the crash, according to police.

• A passenger in a vehicle driven by Trudy Walrath of Spring, Texas, had minor injuries after the 2025 Chrysler Town & Country she was operating was struck from behind by another vehicle around 3:35 p.m. July 24 on Interstate 81 in Foster Township, police said.

Walrath and Todd Dennis, of Pine Grove, who was driving a Ford F-150, were traveling in the left lane when Walrath had to reduce speed for another vehicle, police said.

Dennis, who was unable to stop in time and struck the back of the Chrysler, was cited for following too closely, according to police.

• A 17-year-old Towanda boy was taken for medical treatment after the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving crashed at 2:49 p.m. July 23 on Summer Valley Road in East Brunswick Township.

Police said the teen’s vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, hit a tree and went down an embankment before hitting another tree and rolling on its side.

The teen was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital in Orwigsburg by Schuylkill EMS. The New Ringgold Fire Company assisted.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Charles Weber, 77, of Ringtown, had minor injuries after the 2019 Kia Soul he was driving crashed along Aristes Road at 9:33 a.m. July 19, police said.

Weber was westbound as the 2015 Ford Explorer in front of him driven by Donald Clark Jr., of Mount Carmel, was traveling at a reduced speed so Clark could look at yard sale items, according to police.

When Weber swerved to avoid Clark, his vehicle left the road and hit a tree. Weber was evaluated on the scene for a minor cut to his arm. His vehicle had disabling damage and was towed.

Both men were cited after the crash, according to police.
