State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police responded to Rodenbach Lane at its intersection with Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township at 9:26 p.m. July 14, for a report of a hit-and-run crash. The crash occurred as a vehicle operated by Kristin Cahill, 40, of Saylorsburg, and a 2018 Ram 2500 for which the operator has not been identified, were traversing the roundabout in adjacent lanes.
The Ram 2500 was in the left lane while the other vehicle was in the right lane. The other vehicle was traveling straight toward Rodenbach Lane while the Ram 2500 attempted to turn right onto Route 209 south to exit the roundabout and sideswiped the other vehicle during this maneuver, resulting in minor damage. The Ram 2500 fled the scene without stopping to exchange information with the operator of the other vehicle. No injuries were reported.
• At 8:29 p.m. July 16, troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 715 when a 2005 Yamaha R6 was traveling north and the operator, Zachariah Almoayad, 19, of Saylorsburg, lost control on a left curve in the roadway.
The vehicle went off the road on the right side, struck a fallen tree limb that was lying on the berm. The vehicle had disabling damage and injuries were reported.
• At 10:30 a.m. June 28, troopers responded at Route 715 and Effort Neola Road, Chestnuthill Township, for a two-car crash. The crash occurred as a 2018 KIA operated by Kayla Hills, 31, of Wynnewood, was making a left turn from Effort Neola Road on to Route 715 north and struck a 2026 Dodge Durango operated by Michael Fox, 31, of Stroudsburg, that was traveling south in their lane of travel.
Fox was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Pocono campus, for further medical evaluation. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Airbags were deployed on both units. RLE Tow and West End EMS also assisted.
• At 1:25 p.m. June 29, troopers responded to a one-car crash on Sugar Hollow Road at its intersection with Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township. A 2025 Toyota RAV4 was traveling south on Route 715 and turned right onto Sugar Hollow Road, before it made an abrupt left to turn back into the direction of Route 715, striking the guide rail.
The driver, Durell Davis, 47, of Blakeslee, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Pocono, by St. Luke’s EMS. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Schlier’s Towing. Witnesses and Davis both provided interviews which stated that this crash is a result of possible medical episode brought on by diabetes.
• At 11:46 a.m. June 29, troopers responded to a one-car crash that occurred on Interstate 80 west in the area of mile marker 173.8, East Side Borough.
A 2026 Porsche 911 operated by Sasha Wawrzyniak, 48, of Elizabethtown, was traveling in the left lane when a bear entered the roadway. The bear was traveling left to right, when it was struck by the vehicle, causing minor damage to the exterior, but setting of the airbags and disabling the vehicle.
The vehicle came to rest in the left lane. Traffic was diverted around the vehicle in the right lane of Interstate 80 west. The vehicle was towed by J & J Towing.
