Center Stage Theatre to present ‘The Lightning Thief’

Get ready for an epic adventure as Center Stage Theatre at the Tamaqua Arts Center presents “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at the 125 Pine St. center.

Tickets are available at www.tamaquaarts.org.

Based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel, the performance follows Percy Jackson, a boy who discovers he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect and is thrust into an action-packed quest across America to find the true thief, prevent a war among the gods and discover where he truly belongs.

Alongside his friends Annabeth and Grover, Percy faces legendary monsters, mythical creatures and impossible challenges in a story filled with humor, heart and unforgettable music.

Under the direction of Amy Green, with music direction by Allison Kline and choreography by Jill Hartranft, the production features a talented cast of local young performers bringing the beloved characters to life.

Cast members include Max Najarro as Percy Jackson; Carly Green as Annabeth Chase; Justin Espinoza-Mota as Grover; Ryan Metters as Luke; Corabel Najarro as Clarisse; Lucy Sander as Mr. D.; and Alex Lin as Chiron.

“I’ve loved Percy Jackson since I first read the books,” said director Amy Green. “Seeing this talented cast bring these beloved characters to life has been an amazing experience. It’s exciting to introduce a new generation to the world of Percy Jackson while giving these young performers the chance to create something truly memorable.”

Audiences can also look forward to an impressive visual experience.

“Our stage manager, Katie Garvey, has put in some extra work making us some truly amazing monsters to make this quest truly come to life,” Green added.
