Mel Bartholomew of Palmerton was one of 35 Lebanon Valley College students who participated in summer science research with faculty mentors.

Bartholomew, a graduate of Milton Hershey School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in environmental science at Lebanon Valley.

Bartholomew collaborated with Dr. Doug Becker on three research projects, surveying the LVC Campus Bird Community; the effects of light, deer browse, and invasive plants on the availability of forest aerila insects; and the effects of soil torching on invasive plant germination.
