Police: Man threatened child

Cody Johnson, 36, of Slatington, was sent to Lehigh County Jail on charges he threatened to hit a child and an adult with a cooking pan.

Slatington police were called to the 200 block of South Walnut Street in Slatington around 3:51 p.m. July 4, and spoke to a man who said Johnson threatened to strike him and a 10-year-old child with the pan. The man said Johnson had the pan in his hand as he made the threats.

Police located Johnson at the rear of the property, and said he smelled of burned marijuana. Officers said Johnson admitted to smoking marijuana without a valid medical marijuana permit.

Officers charged Johnson with simple assault of a child under 12 by a person over the age of 21, simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and harassment. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Todd P. Heffelfinger and committed to prison on $25,000 straight cash.
