Marian Catholic welcomes new directors
Marian Catholic High School has elected four new members to the Marian High School Inc. Board of Directors.
Beginning three-year terms July 1 are the Rev. Ronald J. Minner, Patrick McCall ’81, Bruce Svetz ’83 and Susan Yacapsin McGorry ’84.
“These individuals each bring a deep love for Marian Catholic, exceptional professional experience and a strong commitment to Catholic education,” Board Chairman Dave Bielen ’69 said. “As Marian approaches this historic milestone in 2028-29, their leadership and vision will help guide the school during a pivotal and exciting time in our history.”
Rev. Ronald J. Minner
Minner is pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish and St. Joseph Church in Jim Thorpe. He previously served as pastor of Holy Cross Parish in New Philadelphia before being assigned to Jim Thorpe in 2021 by Bishop Alfred Schlert.
Ordained a priest for the Diocese of Allentown in 2001, Minner is a graduate of Notre Dame of Green Pond High School.
He will serve on the board’s Strategic Communications and Enrollment Management committees.
Bruce Svetz
Svetz returns to the board after previously serving from 2012 to 2019.
He serves in an executive role with Terba Madre, overseeing key large-format accounts in the southeastern United States. During his career, he has served on or advised several corporate boards, including Oxygen Plus, SOLIS Brands and Beanitos Chip Company. A Marian graduate from the Class of 1983, Svetz is one of seven siblings who attended the school. He is active in All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford, Florida, St. Ann Church in DeBary, Florida, and the Knights of Columbus.
He will chair the Facilities Committee and also serve on the Advancement, Finance, and Governance and Nominating committees.
Patrick McCall
McCall, a 1981 Marian graduate, is chief sales officer for 2iG Solutions Inc., a technology and analytics company serving the insurance premium finance industry. He previously held executive sales leadership positions with ClarionDoor/Zywave and Vertafore.
He earned a business management degree from DeSales University in 1985.
A member of a multigenerational Marian family, McCall’s father and two daughters also graduated from the school.
He will serve as vice chair of the Advancement Committee and on the Governance and Nominating Committee.
Susan Yacapsin McGorry
McGorry, a 1984 Marian graduate, is assistant provost for assessment and accreditation and professor of business at DeSales University.
Her career has included positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, AT&T and UNESCO in France. She holds an MBA and doctorate in marketing and applied research from Lehigh University and completed postdoctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
McGorry has also been active in community organizations, including Girls on the Run, United Way, Special Olympics, the Eastern Pennsylvania Down syndrome Center and the Lehigh Valley Health Network Institutional Review Board.
She will chair the Student Life Committee and serve on the Enrollment Management and Strategic Communications committees.
Marian Catholic High School, which opened in 1954, is owned by the Diocese of Allentown and governed by its board of directors. The school has graduated more than 8,000 students and will celebrate its 75th anniversary during the 2028-29 school year.
