Tamaqua police said a borough man is facing harassment and assault charges after he hit another man with a baseball bat early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 500 block of North Railroad Street just after midnight and spoke to a man who said Shannon Cara returned home after drinking.

The two had an argument, and Shannon attacked him with a metal bat. Police said the victim had a small bleeding wound on his elbow.

The victim was able to disarm Cara and the two continued fighting. Police said Cara punched the victim several times, causing swelling to the victim’s face.

The victim was taken for medical treatment, police said.
