Several area projects — including one in Monroe County four in Schuylkill County — have been awarded funding from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, Gov. Josh Shapiro announced.

The program invests in major economic development, public safety, infrastructure, workforce development, and community revitalization projects that will strengthen communities, create jobs, and drive long-term growth across Pennsylvania, the governor said.

The Monroe County project that was funded is the Coolbaugh Township building. The state awarded $500,000 toward the rehabilitation of the former St. Alphonsus Retreat House in Coolbaugh Township. The funding is expected to complete structural, roofing, and exterior envelope repairs to preserve and stabilize the historic facility.

In Schuylkill County, the successful applicants include: Keystone Potato Products: $3 million to support major site development for the company in Frailey Township, enabling critical infrastructure improvements to expand advanced food manufacturing operations and strengthen local industrial capacity; Kowalonek’s Kielbasy expansion: $1.85 million to support expansion of a food production facility including renovation, increased manufacturing capacity, and addition of retail space; Orwigsburg Fire Department: $1 million to support demolition and construction of a new municipal fire station on an existing site; and Schuylkill Emergency Operations Facility: $1.5 million to support construction of a regional emergency operations facility with training, coordination, and public safety infrastructure.

The local projects are among 42 projects in Northeast Pennsylvania that total $52,595,728.

The investments are part of a broader statewide commitment of nearly $445 million supporting 356 projects across Pennsylvania aimed at creating jobs, improving infrastructure, strengthening public safety, and driving long-term economic growth in communities across the commonwealth.

RACP, administered by the Governor’s Office of the Budget, is a reimbursement grant program that supports essential design, acquisition, and construction projects across the Commonwealth. The program funds projects with regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, promoting economic growth, creating jobs, increasing tax revenue, and contributing to vibrant, resilient communities.

Several other projects in Lehigh and Northampton counties also received the RACP funding. They include:

Lehigh County — ACCHS Athletic Complex, $250,000; Allentown Art Museum VI, $500,000; ASD Union Terrace ES Campus, $250,000; former Lehigh Valley Dairy Redevelopment, $1,200,000; J. Birney Crum Stadium, $500,000; Lehigh Valley Zoo Education Center, $1,000,000; LVIA Parking Garage, $2,750,000; and Salvation Army, Allentown, $250,000.

Northampton County — Bethlehem Catholic Athletic Fund, $250,000; Bethlehem Emergency Shelter, $1,750,000; Easton Berwick Street Renovation, $2,000,000; Greater Community Empowerment Center, $5,000,000; Lafayette College Baseball Facilities, $1,000,000; and Palmer Township Police Station, $1,500,000.
