Joe Snedeker, one of the most recognized TV meteorologists in the region, will be visiting Summit Hill.
Snedeker, weather forecaster on WNEP Channel 16, will be in the hilltop community as part of his GoJoe29 fund-raising bike ride through Eastern Pennsylvania at noon on Tuesday. The station will be doing its noon news broadcast from there.
The announcement of Snedeker’s visit was made during a meeting this week of Summit Hill Borough Council.
Council members said they are hoping to find donations of food and drink to sell on that day to raise funds for Snedeker’s charity, the St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton.
This is the 29th year Snedeker will have been doing an annual bike trek over a five-day period, riding his bicycle as many as 100 miles per day to raise funds for the center.
This year’s trek will kick off on Monday in Philadelphia. He will ride to Valley Forge, then, according to the WNEP on-site map, ride from Quakertown to Weissport.
Tuesday’s travels, after Summit Hill, take him through towns in Schuylkill County.
It was noted that Snedeker once made a stop in Summit Hill a few years ago. During his visit, hot dogs and beverages, which were donated, were sold with the funds raised given to Snedeker’s cause.
