Chestnuthill Township

Chestnuthill Township supervisors acted on the following items last week:

• The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is requesting to use Chestnuthill Township roads to detour local truck traffic in/out of Sugar Hollow Farms during replacement of the State Route 3011 Section 02B (Sugar Hollow Road) bridge due to the inability for these trucks to make right turns from State Road (SR3016) onto Sugar Hollow Road (SR3011). The truck detour will be in place for approximately nine months in the year 2029.

• The roundabouts in Chestnuthill Township will be getting metal military emblems.

The project was awarded to Blink Marketing Inc. for $28,711.90, subject to checking the bidders’ qualifications and receipt of bidders’ bond. The funds come from an Local Share Account grant.

• Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction was awarded the pave-in-place bid at a cost of $1,155,224.45. No bids were received for the FOB crack seal. Phase lll of Hypsie Gap Road reconstruction will be completed by Shiffer Bituminous Service Company at a cost of $115,000.

• Hanover Engineering has approved Sean Cunningham as a new sewage enforcement officer.

• West End Fire Company reported 44 calls for June, and 227 year-to-date.

• A memorandum of Understanding between Chestnuthill Township and the West End Fairgrounds was reached to establish a framework which the township and West End Fair Association will cooperate in pursuing funding for the West End Fairgrounds Capital Improvement Project. Jeff Weiss abstained as his wife is on the West End Fairgrounds board of directors.

• Chestnuthill Park will hold a summer concert on July 24 from 7 to p.m.

• A blood drive will be held on Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
