The victim of a fatal fire that occurred Monday morning in the 2800 block of Helen Street in South Whitehall Township has been identified by Lehigh County Coroner Damiel A. Buglio as Christopher R. Forsythe, 37, of Allentown.
Forsythe was pronounced dead at 5 a.m. Monday on the scene outside the residence. Officials said the house was vacant.
The coroner said Forsythe was recovered from the residence by firefighters who responded there around 4:40 a.m.
Buglio said an autopsy was completed Monday in the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center. It concluded the cause of death was inhalation of products of combustion and thermal injuries. He said the manner of Forsythe’s death remains pending the conclusion of the investigation.
In addition to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center, the South Whitehall Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal are also investigating. Assisting at the scene were the Woodlawn Fire Department, Greenawalds Fire Department, Cetronia Fire Department, Tri-Clover Fire Company, Western Salisbury Fire Company, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Upper Macungie Township Fire Department, Coplay Fire Department, Catasauqua Fire Department, and Neffs Fire Company.
