Last week, the Slatington Fire Department had a surprise “Wet Down” for the community at the fire station.

A nice crowd of residents came to cool off.

Annie Tomaino, secretary of the Slatington Fire Department, said, “We felt this was the hottest day. We wanted to give kids, grown-ups and dogs a chance to cool off, especially the ones that cannot make it to the pool.

“I want to thank Friedens Fire Company for their assistance today. We will have more Wet Down Days as needed. Please watch Facebook for updates.”

Slatington Mayor Jeralyn Schoch said, “I’m very proud of our fire department. They really step up to help and support our community.”
