The formal re-enactment and rededication of the cornerstone-laying at the site of the Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe was carried on with pomp and pageantry Saturday afternoon.
The latest in a series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the library, the impressive program was highlighted by a procession of more than 150 members of the Masonic order, appearing in official Masonic dress, with the officers of the Grand Lodge and lodges wearing appropriate jewels and aprons and the others wearing white lambskin aprons.
Members of the Milo Dimmick family, including Milton, founded the educational and cultural center at 54 Broadway in ‘ol Mauch Chunk and were actively involved in the Masonic Order and Carbon Lodge No. 242, which played a major role in the original cornerstone-laying on June 15, 1889.
