Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:
• Accepted the resignation of employee #348, who served as the police department’s part-time administrative assistant.
• Accepted the resignation of Lisa Kisbaugh from Parks and Recreation.
• Appointed Jess Knappenberger to complete the open term on Parks and Recreation until 2030.
• Agreed to have borough manager Dane DeWire, borough solicitor Jim Nanovic and Councilman Dave Arndt on the police department contract negotiations committee.
• Approved the appeal of the ruling of the Office of Open Records concerning the decision on Bowman versus Lehighton, which ruled partially in favor of Bowman, and the borough is unable to comply with the records request.
• On a 6-1 vote, authorized the borough solicitor to take action on the L & P Cintas contract. Councilman Grant Hunsicker was opposed.
• Adopted a resolution for MRM provisional membership.
• Adopted a resolution supporting an increase in County 911 Public Safety Emergency rates.
• Adopted approving Carbon County’s Community Development plan.
• Agreed to advertise an ordinance setting the 2026 electric rates.
• Agreed to advertise an ordinance amending the borough’s pension plan.
• Granted final approval to Armin Feldman’s lot consolidation at the recommendation of the Planning Commission.
• Approved Parks and Recreation to purchase a refrigerator with their funds to be put at borough hall.
• Hired an additional pool lifeguard.
