Weatherly auxiliary collects tabs for children’s hospital

Betty Henry, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 360 member and can tab chair, gets ready to take seven bushels of aluminum can tabs to the Janet Weiss Geisinger Children’s Hospital in Danville to help fund projects at the children’s hospital. Janet Holman, another Unit 360 member, helped to transport the can tabs. The unit will continue to collect aluminum beverage can tabs, which can be dropped off at the post at any time. A motorcyclist was injured Monday evening in a crash in Tamaqua. The incident occurred at 6 p.m. along Route 309 near Shellhamer Lane. Apparently the biker lost control, laying the bike down along the northbound berm. The driver was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance before being transported to a nearby trauma center.
