Tamaqua man charged with threatening nurse

A Tamaqua man faces charges after he allegedly threatened to shoot a nurse at St. Luke’s Miners campus in Coaldale.

According to police, Jeffrey Laster, 69, was visiting a patient around 10:30 a.m. June 30 when he got into an argument with a nurse and told her that he was going to shoot her.

Police spoke to the nurse, who said the argument was about the patient’s medication.

She said Laster became upset and made the threat as he used his hand to signify a gun.

Police said that as he was being escorted from the hospital, he repeated to security that he was going to shoot someone.

Following the incident, officers went to Laster’s apartment where he told them that he said something he shouldn’t have.

He told police that he told the nurse, “I feel like shooting you.”

Police charged Laster with disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct/engage in fighting,
