Schuylkill man dies after cycle is hit head-on

A Shenandoah man died on July 4 when a motorcycle he was operating on Route 54 in West Mahanoy Township was struck head-in by a vehicle.

State police at the Frackville barracks said John F. Coleman, 62, was ejected from the 2021 Royal Enfield cycle at 7:53 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcycle, Dalilah D. Trygar, 31, of Mahanoy City, was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.

She was taken into custody for DUI and cited for unsafe driving.

Police said she was operating a 2016 Subaru Legacy westbound and was behind a 2022 Ford F250 that was hauling a trailing unit, operated by Mark A. Mumper, 59, of Quakertown.

They said the Legacy entered the eastbound lane and struck the cycle and the trailing unit, coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the road.

Police said Coleman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He died at the scene.
