A Tamaqua area man was hired as the new director of the Vocational Program for the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 in action taken Monday night by the I-U board.

Edward Lyba, Hometown, will take over the duties of director of the two vocational schools in Schuylkill County, North Vo-Tech in Frackville and South Vo-Tech in Marlin, effective Jan. 1, 1985.

He will succeed Curt Frantz, the present director who will retire at the end of the year.

Lyba’s salary was set at $33,500. He has been serving as guidance counselor and pupil personnel director at the North Vo-Tech school for the past 12 years.

In a reorganizational matter, Clare Murphy of Minersville was elected board president, Robert Wachter, Pottsville, vice president, Walter Morgan, Tri-Valley, secretary, and Edward Kimmel, Blue Mountain, treasurer.
