An annual fireworks spectacular will soon illuminate the heavens in Lehighton on Independence Day.

Those who aspire to get a jump-start on the America250 celebration can attend a Block Party set to take place earlier in the day.

The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will present the Lehighton Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Saturday along Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard.

“Our fireworks are put on by Shooting Star Fireworks, who put on an amazing spectacular job,” said Bambi Elsasser, Community Operations Manager, Lehighton Downtown Initiative. They’re high fireworks that can be seen practically anywhere in Lehighton.”

Elsasser said that the fireworks will be displayed from the rear parking area of the Lehighton Outdoor Center.

She said they would like to thank their fireworks sponsors: Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, Remington & Vernick Engineers, Lehigh Fire Company No. 1, Zimmerman’s Dairy, and Iron Valley Real Estate Northeast.

She said they will be walking around with buckets throughout the event accepting either cash donations or a Venmo code will be provided.

Ahead of the annual fireworks, the Lehighton Parks and Recreation will host a block party starting at 4 p.m. in the Lower Park.

Elsasser cautioned that during the show, there may be some traffic pattern changes, as Lehigh Drive will be closed at 8 p.m.
