Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Approved a resolution supporting Carbon County’s initiative for increasing the 911 surcharge.

• Approved a request from Kristi Thomas to hold a block party on Aug. 15 in the 600 and 700 blocks of E. Princeton.

• On a 4-0 vote, with one abstention, approved a request for the Pace Makers Association 2027 car show on June 19, 2027, for street closure/parking lot use. Council President Terry Costenbader abstained, because he is a member of the organization.

• Approved fire police assistance requests.
