Lehighton School Board
Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following Monday night:
• The homestead and farmstead exclusion resolution for 2026-27, applying a state property tax reduction allocation of $2,081,698 to qualifying properties and setting the assessed value exclusion per homestead at $9,260 for the district’s 4,290 qualifying properties;
• Dental services agreement with Lehigh Valley Health Network for the district’s mobile dental van;
• Letter of Agency for participation in the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit No. 21 E-Rate Consortium for the procurement of eligible E-Rate services for 2026-2031;
• 2026-27 prom to be held at Bear Creek Mountain Resort on May 7, 2027;
• Renewal of iReady math for grades K-6 through Curriculum Associates at a total cost of $171,130.16 covering the 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29 school years, to be paid from the 2026-27 curriculum budget;
• Purchase of McGraw Hill Reveal Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry textbooks at a total cost of $93,567.70, paid over two years at $46,783.85 per year from the 2026-27 and 2027-28 curriculum budgets;
• Purchase of SAVVAS MyPerspectives English textbooks for grades 9 to 12 at a total cost of $102,936.25, paid over two years from the 2026-27 and 2027-28 curriculum budgets;
• Canvas LMS through Instructure for 2026-27 at a cost of $15,456 from the technology budget;
• 2,750 Google Workspace for Education Standard licenses through CDW Amplified at a cost of $8,250 from the technology budget;
• Purchase of BrainPop through the CLIU No. 21 consortium at a cost of $1,648.25 from the technology budget;
• Exterior camera upgrade with the purchase of Verkada cameras from Harris Technologies at a cost of $134,724.63 from the technology budget;
• Quote from ISC InterSource Specialties Co. for ISC Softex Plus insulated ceiling panels for the Elementary Center kitchen at a cost of $7,136 from Capital Reserve;
• Water management proposal from the Tustin Group for the high school: July 1 through June 30, 2027 at $3,195 payable quarterly at $798.75; and July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028 at $3,288 payable quarterly at $1,096;
• Disposal of unneeded, unusable or obsolete surplus property per district policy;
• Employment contract for school psychologist James R. Schwab for 2026-27 at a cost not to exceed $16,560 from the Special Education budget;
• Accepted resignations for retirement: Robert Barowski, high school science teacher, effective June 30 after 27.43 years of service; Elisabeth Yescavage, middle school English language arts teacher, effective June 30 after 29.84 years; and Kristine Betz, elementary center kindergarten teacher, effective June 30 after 19.11 years;
• Accepted the resignation of Debra McArdle, elementary center lunch aide, effective June 13;
• Approved the following candidates for the 2026-27 substitute teacher list: Melissa Stough, Elisabeth Yescavage, Kristine Betz and Yvette Sharrow.
