Coaldale man sentenced for DUI with drugs

A Coaldale man will spend at least three months in jail for driving under the influence of drugs.

Felix A. Baez, 31, was charged by Frackville State Trooper Nathan S. McHugh with DUI of a controlled substance, impaired ability, first offense; DUI of a controlled substance, Schedule 1 drug, first offense; DUI of a controlled substance metabolite, first offense; disregarding traffic lanes; failing to keep right and careless driving on April 11, 2025.

He was found guilty in a nonjury trial of driving under the influence of drugs.

Schuylkill County Judge Christopher Hobbs sentenced Baez to serve 90 days to five years in the county jail with parole. He may be released to go to work if he qualifies.

Hobbs also ordered him to surrender his license for 18 months; have an interlock system on his car for one year; undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment; complete Alcohol Highway Safety School; pay a $1,500 fine; pay $450 in fees; submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; pay a $65 monthly supervision fee; and pay court costs.

Hobbs fined Baez $25 on the traffic lane charge.
