West End Fair presents 3-day festival

The West End Fair is proudly presenting Celebration Fest, a three-day community event honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, on Thursday, July 2, through Saturday, July 4, at the West End Fairgrounds in Effort.

Celebration Fest will bring together history, entertainment, fair traditions, live music, arena events, family activities, food and community exhibits for an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend. The event is designed to celebrate America’s past, present and future while creating a welcoming experience for guests of all ages.

Festival hours will be Thursday and Friday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday from 2-10 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a full lineup of attractions throughout the fairgrounds, including carnival rides, food vendors, local exhibitors, pony rides, wagon rides by Scott Stevens, a livestock petting zoo, a goat cuddle station, American Legion Bingo with 50/50 games, basket raffles, tricky tray drawings, interactive displays, historical demonstrations, military reenactors and county historical society exhibits.

The celebration will also feature live music each evening on the Main Stage and in the Everett Building Pub. Don Jovi will perform on Thursday, Steel Creek Band will perform on Friday, and the Brian Dean Moore Band will perform on Saturday, with Main Stage performances scheduled for 7 and 8:30 p.m. each night.

The Everett Building Pub will feature Mere Mortals on Thursday, Joey Lannigan on Friday, and Patrick Conklin on Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Each day of Celebration Fest will include special events and entertainment. Thursday, July 2, will feature $20 ride wristbands, the PV School Drum & Fife Parade at 5 p.m., Quarter Midget Racing at 6 p.m.,Trinity Centennial Band at 7:30 p.m., and a free fireworks display at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, will include two ride wristbands for $25, live entertainment and junk car racing, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and the events beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 4, will feature 25 cent ride tickets from 2- 6 p.m., Foam Man from 3:30-5:30 p.m., skydivers before the main event, and a demolition derby beginning at 4 p.m.

Food will be available throughout the event, including food trucks, the Kunkletown Community Stand with St. Matthew’s Kunkletown and Kunkletown Fire Co., and Jonas Bake Oven serving pizzas and pretzels.

Celebration Fest offers families, locals and visitors a meaningful way to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary in a place that has long served as a gathering spot for the West End community. Whether guests attend for the history, entertainment, fairground favorites, or patriotic atmosphere, the event will provide something for everyone throughout the holiday weekend.

Arena events:

• Friday, July 3, junk car racing. Gates open at 5 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15, with pit passes at $25.

• Saturday, July 4, demolition derby, gates open at 2 p.m., event begins at 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 and pit passes are $2.
