State police at the Lehighton barracks have released the results of the DUI Sobriety Checkpoint initiative they conducted over the Memorial Day holiday period.

From May 22 to 25, police conducted the checkpoint program on roads in Carbon and Monroe counties, resulting in six persons being arrested for driving under the influence.

Officers issued 65 traffic citations and 20 written warnings for violations of the state’s Motor Vehicle Code.
