Rain can’t stop Strohl
Afternoon showers may have delayed the start of Saturday’s program at Mahoning Valley Speedway, but they couldn’t keep Lou Strohl from racing to victory in the Modified feature.
Strohl took the lead from Earl Paules by lap eight and survived several restarts to secure the win. Austin Kochenash finished second, while Paules completed the podium.
Brian Romig Jr. collected the Late Model victory and the boosted $1,100 winner’s payout after holding off points leader Marc Aigeldinger over the closing laps. Mike Vanfossen finished third.
Brandon Christman raced to the Street Stock win, fending off late pressure from Adam Steigerwalt. Randy Ahner crossed the line third.
Travis Solomon remained steady through multiple cautions to earn the Hobby Stock feature victory. Devin Schmidt placed second, followed by Ryan Berger.
The Pro 4 feature ran caution-free, with Terry Peters making a late pass on Tyler Stangle to claim the win. Ron Pierson Jr. rounded out the top three.
Jaden Brown won the Stage 1 Modified feature after taking the lead on lap four. Brett Smith finished second and Darean Danyluk was third.
In the Northeast Antique Auto Racing Association Vintage Modified feature, Maggie Wambold drove to victory ahead of Darren Cox and Gary Hallman.
Times News photographer Gavin Kester was there to capture all the action.
