Two area softball players have been named to the Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup team.

Northwestern’s Natalie Conner and Palmerton’s Hailey George will both be members of the squad that will hope to capture a championship at the annual event, held by the Philadelphia Phillies.

A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament, with games starting on June 15. The games will be held at FDR Park in Philadelphia.

The Lehigh Valley team is in Bracket C along with Delaware County, Philadelphia Catholic/Inter-AC and Burlington County. Their first games are scheduled for June 16 against Burlington County at 8 a.m., Philadelphia Catholic/Inter-AC at 10 a.m. and Delaware County at 2 p.m.

The championship games are scheduled for June 17.

The Lehigh Valley squad will play a game against last year’s Carpenter Cup team at Pates Park at 5 p.m. on June 10 to prepare for the tourney.
