The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating an explosive device that was thrown from a moving vehicle near the Salem United Church of Christ around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Catasauqua, Lehigh County. No injuries were reported, and voting at the polling location remained open.
Lehigh County, voters can access the polling place via the side entrance.
The PSP determined the explosive device detonated approximately half block away and around the corner from the entrance of the Salem United Church of Christ, located in the 600 block of Third Street in Catasauqua Borough, and is believed to have been an isolated incident.
No information exists to cause investigators to believe this incident was related to the polling location.
At this point, no arrests have been made.
Third Street at Pine Street and Third Street at Walnut Street were closed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Troop M Major Case Team is leading the investigation with assistance from the ATF, the Catasauqua Borough Police Department, PSP Troop M Fire Marshal Unit, Allentown Bomb Squad, and the North Catasauqua Borough Police Department.
