Tamaqua police reported the following incident:

• A Coaldale woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by Tamaqua police on May 3.

Police said they were on patrol on Route 209 between Tamaqua and Coaldale at 11:13 p.m. when they observed a vehicle swerving from its lane.

Police stopped the vehicle and said they spoke to the driver, Jennifer Esposito, 49, who initially denied drinking but later admitted to having two glasses of wine. Police said she failed field sobriety tests and that a portable Breathalyzer test showed the presence of alcohol.

She was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus, where she refused a blood-alcohol test.

• Police cited Angela Hysong, 41, of Tamaqua, with disorderly conduct following a 5:02 a.m. on April 30 incident in the unit block of Market Street.

Police were called to the location and heard a man and woman arguing inside an apartment, which was waking up neighbors. The man told officers that he allowed Hysong to stay with him after she was released from prison, but that Hysong had messed up his apartment and was becoming unruly.

Police said Hysong claimed that the man had hit her, but officers said she had no visible marks. Officers were familiar with Hysong and said that she had made similar allegations in the past. Police told her that the man would take her to a homeless shelter, but she refused to gather her possessions and continued arguing with police. As a result, she was cited.

• Police charged Lisa Kranch, 45, Owl Creek, Tamaqua, with writing two bad checks to a plumbing business in December.

According to police, representatives from ATP Plumbing and Heating told officers that they worked on Kranch’s heating and air conditioning unit. Kranch wrote a check for $850 for the work from a closed account, police said.

She wrote an additional check for $310, which was also not honored.

Repeated attempts were made to contact Kranch to make good on the payment, but police said she did comply. Charges were filed this week.
