Fire companies from throughout Schuylkill County responded to a large brush fire Monday afternoon just east of Mahanoy City. The fire was reported around 4 p.m. north of Route 54 in multiple locations. Firefighters utilized all terrain vehicles to gain access to the scene taking over four hours to control the flames.
