Tamaqua issues parking reminder

Tamaqua borough residents are reminded that the regular street sweeping schedule has resumed.

Streets that will be swept will be posted the day before.

Residents must move their vehicles from the posted streets or face having them ticketed and towed.

Jay Stidham, director of public works, announced at borough council’s recent meeting that the regular schedule, available on the borough’s website and on Facebook, will continue until at least November or December.

Also during the meeting, council:

• Approved moving a handicapped parking sign from 415 E. Union St. to 410 E. Union St.

• Retained Christopher Wagner as a full-time street maintenance worker contingent upon completion of a commercial driver’s license course. He was hired in December at a rate of $27 per hour.

• Approved an agreement for the Goodwill Summer Work Experience and Assessment program.

• Will advertise for part-time maintenance workers at a rate of $12.50 per hour.

• Approved a proposal from Lancer Systems for a Lancer L15 Gen 2 defense rifle package for $1,650.
