Nick Young was honored as “Citizen of the Year” and the American Cancer Society was recognized for its half-century of service to the area during the 46th annual dinner of the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tamaqua Industrial Development Enterprises held at the Tamaqua Community Center.

Young is a longtime Tamaqua Area High School teacher and guidance counselor who has been involved in a number of civic activities in the community and who has served as master of ceremonies for the Chamber event a number of times.

Attorney William Bayer and Patricia Haughton, president and executive director of the cancer society, respectively, accepted an award from the Chamber for its 50 years of service to the community.
