Spotlight on art in Slatington

The Woman’s Club of Slatington held its annual Arts Contest on Monday, culminating with a Community Arts Night at the Slatington Public Library.

More than 120 entries were submitted by over 100 artists. Participants ranged from kindergarten students to adults, both club members and nonmembers. Categories in the contest were coloring, 2-D and 3-D art, fiber art, poetry and photography. Ribbons were awarded to first, second and third place winners in each category, and cash prizes were awarded to student winners in grades 3 to 12.

The Woman’s Club of Slatington is a service organization that has been supporting the Northern Lehigh area since 1938. Meetings are held the third Monday of each month from September to May. All those interested, 18 years of age and older, are welcome to attend. For more information, leave a message on the club’s Facebook page.

New hours for the Slatington Public Library will start on Monday until further notice.

They are: Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
