The sixth annual Weisstock is underway tonight in the Weissport Park.

The two-day event kicked off at 5 p.m. and will continue to 10 p.m. with events, vendors, and the Kid Zone opening.

Activities Friday included Jaded Angel Wrestling Academy from 5 to 10 p.m.; Weisstock’s Got Talent from 8-10 p.m. (register by 7:30 p.m. Raffle Tent); and Basket Raffle ticket sales from 5-10 p.m.

Weisstock continues its run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday with events, vendors, the Kid Zone, and Jaded Angle Wrestling Academy, along with the basket raffle ticket sale from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (tickets must be dropped by 6 p.m.). There will be a live performance by Seventh & Mahoning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Limbo Contest by Gazebo at 1 p.m. (report by 12:45 p.m. at raffle tent); Cakewalk in Event area behind raffle tent at 1 p.m.; live performance by Gone Country from 2-4 p.m.; Judging for “Best Pizza in Carbon County” from 3-4 p.m.; Pizza Eating Contest in event area behind raffle tent from 4-5 p.m. (register by 3:45 p.m. at raffle tent); live performance by Vodou from 5-7 p.m.; basket raffle drawing from 7-8 p.m. (basket must be picked up by 10 p.m.); and live performance by Beaten Path from 8-10 p.m.

“It’s a family-friendly community event,” said Nicole Baker, Weisstock Committee chair, who added the festival is held as a fundraiser for St. Peter’s Community Resources Center.

There will also be a Backpack Giveaway while supplies last that were donated by Impact Ministry, Blue Mountain Community Church, Palmerton.

Event sponsors were Pencor Services, Inc; G Contracting & Design LLC; Gold Outdoor Living & Design By G Contracting; The Law Office of Kim M. Gillen, P.C., Bear Mountain Real Estate; and Mario’s Pizza, who is sponsoring the pizza contest.
