April 21, 1980 — Ray Gregg’s RBI single in the top of the eighth inning proves to be the difference as Tamaqua pulls out a 6-5 extra-inning Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley. After Dave Bonner’s base hit in the bottom of the seventh ties the game for the Panthers, Joe Siegenfuse leads off the eighth with a walk. After a sacrifice and a wild pitch, Gregg delivers his clutch hit. Ken Frantz contributes a two-run single to the winning effort, while Clem McCarroll adds an RBI hit and Gregg also connects for a double. Mark Rother tosses all eight innings to earn the pitching decision. For PV, Joe Matika collects two hits and an RBI.
