Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:55 p.m. on March 28 at mile marker 85.8 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said it happened as David L. Vanhoute, 60, of Watsontown, was driving a 2019 Toyota RAV4 southbound in the right lane of traffic when it moved to the left lane and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Vanhoute was uninjured, police said.
• Oscar A. Castaneda Carrillo, 25, of Hempstead, New York, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 11:35 a.m. on March 19 at mile marker 76.5 in Franklin Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Chevrolet at a high rate of speed when he attempted an evasive move because a tractor-trailer in front of his vehicle changed lanes. The Chevrolet struck an embankment and overturned.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 8:05 a.m. on March 5 at mile marker 88.7 in Kidder Township.
Police did not identify the drivers.
They said a 2016 Mack Truck merged left as directed by posted signs and hit the right side of a 2026 Chevrolet.
• Mary E. Cammilleri, 33, of Levittown, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:31 a.m. on March 5 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said she was driving a 2025 Nissan Rogue northbound when it lost traction due to the wet road. The vehicle hit the center barrier.
• Police provided the details of a three-vehicle crash at 7:37 p.m. on April 12 at mile marker 71.7 in East Penn Township. They did not, however, provide the names or residences of the drivers.
They said a 2025 Kia Seltos was traveling north in the left lane when a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2021 BMW were both southbound. They said the Seltos crossed the center median and hit the Jeep on the driver’s side rear and the front end of the BMW.
Police said the operator of the Seltos was ejected and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.
• Police responded to a hit-and-run at 1:10 a.m. on March 27 at mile marker 78.6 in Franklin Township.
They said a vehicle traveling south hit the back of a 2005 Toyota Camry operated by Ajia R. Cook, 47, of Millville, New Jersey, and continued south without stopping.
Police said the Camry was towed from the scene.
