Rummage sale

St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will have a rummage sale in its fellowship hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 2 and 4.

The sale includes household items, jewelry, books, electronics, holiday decorations, clothing for men, women and children, and much more.

Bingo/basket raffle

The Tamaqua Drama Club will hold a basket raffle and bingo at 1 p.m. Sunday from the West Penn Fire Company. Doors open at noon.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Debra Rogers will oversee the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley. A children’s message will be part of the service, and special music will be provided.

Sunday school for all ages is at 9:45 a.m. and the Sunday evening service is at 6:30 p.m. Come and plan to share your faith through music and word.

The Wednesday prayer hour is at 7 p.m.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. Adult Sunday School is at 10:15 a.m. The church board meets at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, WASP will meet. The Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. April 23.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

TAHS Class of ’76

The Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1976 is planning a June 6 reunion at Capriotti’s and is seeking email addresses or phone numbers for the following classmates:

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on April 14 with 33 members present.

President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the invocation, “You’re always Here,” followed by the Lord’s Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”

Three members celebrated birthdays in April. The election will be held at the April 28 meeting with the nomination of two members for each office.

A member is celebrating their 50 year anniversary this month. The group chanced off a hanging plant and duck.

Refreshments were served and the meeting closed. Bingo was played. June 9 will be the anniversary and picnic beginning at noon.

The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at Christ Church in Barnesville.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on April 9 with 23 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Closest to My Heart,” recited by a members.

The group was asked to remember members with health issues. Three members celebrated birthdays this month.

Machamer donated snacks and another member donated plastic silverware.

A majority vote was taken to have Machamer as president, Eileen Keich as vice president, Ruth Ann Feane as secretary, and Nancy Godanis as secretary from May 2026 to May 2027.

The group is planning an anniversary dinner on July 16. Snacks were provided, the meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.
