Lehighton Borough Council took the following action recently:
• Agreed to award $22,140 in facade grant funding to 125-127 S. First St., at the recommendation of the Facade Grant Committee.
• Reclassifed Jonathan Tracey as “apprentice lineman — first year.”
• Agreed to change the time of zoning hearing board meetings to 6:30 p.m. at the request of the zoning hearing board.
• Approved a $250 donation to the United Veterans Organization to defray costs of Memorial Day services.
• Approved nine $50 gift cards for Administrative Professionals Day in April for the administrative employees.
• Approved the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging 2026 Senior Games, May 5-14 at the Recreation Center, and Baer Memorial Park on May 12, with a rain date to be determined.
• Approved the Lehighton Lioness/Lions Club Community Festival at the Grove from noon to 10 p.m. May 7-9.
• Approved Park & Recreation’s Fourth of July Block Party from 2-10 p.m. July 4.
• Approved the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corp. Community Festival from noon to 6 p.m. July 18, along with the space request, alcohol, a petting zoo, and road closure.
• Approved a request from Full Gospel Tabernacle Bread of Life Church to use the Amphitheatre in the Upper Park the first Sunday in June, July and August, and to hold a Family Fun Day after the service on the first Sunday in June.
