Local Roundup: Results from April 11
The Palmerton girls softball team won its 10th straight game on Saturday to already clinch a district playoff berth.
Meanwhile, the Northern Lehigh baseball squad ran their winning streak to seven after downing Moravian Academy.
BASEBALL
Lehighton-Bangor
Chase Llwellyn pitched a six-hitter to help lead Lehighton to a 3-2 Colonial League victory over Bangor.
Llwellyn allowed two runs in the third inning, but nothing after that as the Indians won their sixth game out of their last seven.
Pierce Goida had an RBI single in the home first for the winners, while Logan Bellis delivered a run-scoring single in the third that put Lehighon ahead for good.
Brock Atwood, Jayse Lawrence, Cash White and Brayden Ulshafer also collected hits for Lehighton.
Bangor pitcher Gino Merlo also pitched a complete game, striking out nine.

Jim Thorpe knocked off Colonial League leading Southern Lehigh, using a six-run second inning to help pots an 8-5 victory.
Brody Schrantz, who drove in four runs with two hits, highlighted the six-run outburst with a bases-clearing double.
Michael Antignani, Tyler Hoherchak and Cole Lazorick all recorded two hits for the Olympians, who won their fourth straight. Lazorick and Hoherchak both added a pair of runs.

Cam Pengelly fired a five-hit shutout as Palmerton registered a 6-0 Colonial League victory over Wilson.
Pengelly struck out 15 and walked one in his 100-pitch performance to help the Blue Bombers snap a three-game losing streak.
Alex Keiper ripped a two-run single, and Jason Carelli roped a two-run triple during Palmerton’s six-run fourth inning.
Shaun Danielson also went the distance for Wilson, allowing six hits and striking out five.

Northern Lehigh snapped a tie game in the second inning, and the Bulldogs won their seventh straight with a 14-6 Colonial League victory over winless Moravian Academy.
Coy Daubert had a double and a triple with three RBIs, and Brayden Buskirk rapped a double and two singles with an RBI for Northern Lehigh.
The Bulldogs took the lead with a three-run second inning after the game was tied 4-4 after the first.
Avery Kabrick had a double and two RBIs, and Landen Cougle added two RBIs. Buskirk swiped two of the Bulldogs five stolen bases.

Nicholas Haros hit a pair of solo homers to help Pen Argyl knock off Northwestern 4-2 in Colonial League action.
Haros finished with three hits for the Green Knights, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Caleb Herfurth limited the Tigers to just four hits and two runs in his five innings of work.
Ethan Konyak had a pair of hits and an RBI for Northwestern, while Luke Marazzo added a hit, a run and an RBI.

Brody Breiner pitched a gem and Danny Wehr came up with a big hit in the seventh inning to propel Panther Valley to a 7-0 non-league victory over winless Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.
Breiner tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six.
The Panthers, winners of three of their last four games, broke a scoreless tie with a run in the sixth and put the game away with a six-run seventh. Wehr delivered a three-run triple in that final frame.
PV also received two hits, one a double, and two RBIs from Kaden Koerbler.

East Stroudsburg South jumped out to an early lead, and the Cavaliers coasted to a 12-2 non-league victory over Tamaqua.
The Cavaliers posted two runs in each of the first three innings for a 6-0 cushion and then sealed the game with a five-run fifth.
Jake Yenser put Tamaqua on the board with a solo homer in the top of the first, and Landon Kamant had two hits — one an RBI single — and two stolen bases.
Jacob Markowski pitched all six innings for East Stroudsburg South, issuing seven hits and striking out six. At the plate, Markowski went 3-for-5 with four RBIs.

Brader Butz nearly pitched a shutout as Central Catholic gained a 15-0 non-league victory over Marian.
Butz tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits while striking out nine. Due to his pitch count, Jake Androu had to come on to post the final out.
Andrew Bowser, Jake Strobl and Bubba VanFleet all finished with three hits for the Vikings. VanFleet knocked in three runs, while Bowser scored three times.
For the Colts, Chase Quinn-Gutsie collected two hits, one a triple.

Gombeda walked four and struck out 10, allowing just a first-inning unearned run.
Ben Drobnock finished 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs to lead the Preppers offensively.
Ray Montz scored the run for the Wreckers, while Jeremiah Donadi had their lone RBI.

Palmerton clinched a district playoff berth by rolling to a 15-0 Colonial League win over Wilson.
Grace Schneider had two hits, two runs and three RBIs to pace the Blue Bombers on offense. Hailey Barry and Samantha Wolfe both collected a pair of hits and two RBIs in the victory.
Palmerton, which is still undefeated, also received a hit and two RBIs from both Mackenzie Ferber and Aylexia Gulla.

Isabella D’Ancona had a big day at the plate to help lead Panther Valley to a 21-1 non-league win over Notre Dame East Stroudsburg.
D’Ancona finished 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple. She scored three runs and knocked in six.
Winning pitcher Liana Jones added a pair of hits, two runs and three RBIs. In the circle, she allows two hits in three innings and struck out five.

Southern Lehigh staked itself to an early advantage, and the Spartans rolled to a 9-3 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
The winners took a 6-0 lead into the third inning, mainly due to their four-run second inning. Isabella Gemani and Lilly Kelly each hit solo homers during that span.
Hailey Zacharias was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Kylie Sullivan and Gloria Strohl each went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Olympians.

Kelli Snow delivered the big hit for the Slaters in the second, connecting for a three-run homer. Teammate E Christie contributed two hits and a pair of runs.
For the Indians, Brynn Mriss finished with a pair of hits, while Ava Serfass added a hit and two RBIs.

Pleasant Valley suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a narrow 9-7 decision to District 3’s Wilson West Lawn.
Ryan Leaman scored five goals to lead the Bulldogs.
The Bears received three goals and two assists from Rylee Rath, while Brielle Halamar added a pair of goals and a helper.
