Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:
• A Coaldale man was jailed on charges he broke into a Tamaqua property and stole welding equipment on April 2.
Police charged Robert Rex, 32, with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Rowe Street after 7 p.m. for a burglary in progress. A witness told police she saw a man leaving a property welding equipment and called the owner, who phoned 911.
Officers watched a video of the man who took the welder, and recognized him as Rex.
Police went to a Pitt Street property where Rex is known to stay. Rex was inside and asked if he was going to jail. He was taken into custody and police retrieved the welder.
An investigation revealed that Rex kicked down the front door, which caused about $500 in damage. He then took the Lincoln MIG welder valued at about $2,000.
Rex was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $15,000 cash. He was unable to post bail and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
• Police cited Carl Confer, 46, with disorderly conduct for playing loud music after 1 a.m. April 3.
Officers were called to the unit block of Cherry Street for a noise complaint and while the music was lowered, they heard Confer screaming and yelling. Police said it wasn’t until after 2 a.m. that Confer answered his door. When he did, police said he was angry and screamed at officers to “get a warrant.”
Police directed Confer to turn down the music. They had warned him in February about the volume.
