Scout earns Eagle with Parryville boxes, lending library

A Lehighton native has attained the highest rank of Boy Scouting.

Ryden Chapman, 18, of Topton, earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Chapman passed his Eagle Board of Review on July 27.

His project was flower boxes and a lending library in Parryville Park.

It took 120 hours of planning and 29.4 hours to build everything.

Chapman chose the Lending Library to help those in Parryville be able to borrow books without having to travel into Lehighton or further for them, as that helps those that cannot drive to explore more books. The flower boxes brought some color to the park for everyone to enjoy.

He is very thankful for all the support from his troops along with his parents, sister Lena, who was able to help along with earning volunteer credit for Girl Scouts, and those who donated their time and funds to help make the project a success.

Chapman earned Bronze, Silver and Gold Eagle Palm alongside his Eagle rank.

He graduated from Commonwealth Charter Academy in June with honors.

Chapman lived with his family in Lehighton for 15 years before they moved to Topton in 2023.

He came up through Cub Pack 82, Troop 82, a founding member of Troop 08 Parryville, and when they moved, Troop 510 in Topton.

They did not want to leave their home troop in the move so they continued to be members of Troop 08 while commuting to meetings when they were able.

Chapman is the son of Jameson and Theresa Chapman of Topton.
