State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at Fern Ridge investigated the following crashes:
• Wayne A. Nemeth Jr., 42, of Wilkes-Barre was injured after a one-vehicle crash at 4:43 a.m. Feb. 16 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Fire Company to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
They said he was driving a 2025 Hyundai Tucson northbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when he lost control of it.
The vehicle traveled off the north shoulder of the road and hit a tree before overturning onto its roof. It was towed from the scene.
Nemeth was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Shakeim M. Catoe, 45, of East Stroudsburg, was uninjured after a one-vehicle crash at 6:32 a.m. March 4 on the Gilbert Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2015 Peterbilt garbage truck during a period of ice and rain when he lost control of it. The truck spin 180 degrees, slid off the left side of the road and hit small shrubs and trees before tipping onto its passenger side.
Police said Catoe was able to climb out of the vehicle without injuries.
The vehicle had to be removed with a heavy rescue tow truck.
• Leonard C. Sterling, 50, of the Bronx, New York, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a one-vehicle crash at 5:57 p.m. Feb. 22 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 when it lost traction due to snow. The truck exited the roadway, traveled onto the embankment and rolled several times, coming to rest on its passenger side. It was towed from the scene.
• Sherry Ann T. Unger, 51, of Effort, was uninjured after a one-vehicle crash at 10:11 a.m. Feb. 23 on the Jonas Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2017 Audi A3 eastbound when it traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Unger was cited for driving with an expired registration, according to police.
