State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• A 26-year-old Albrightsville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 3:35 a.m. March 15 at the intersection of Interchange Road and Vixen Drive, Polk Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2019 Ford Escape when he lost control of it on Interchange Road and the vehicle traveled up a grass embankment and overturned onto its side. It then reentered the roadway, traveled across both lanes of travel and struck the guide rail on the right side of the road.
Police said the vehicle reentered the roadway a second time, and at some point returned to its upright position.
The Escape was towed from the scene.
• A 44-year-old Coplay man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a two-vehicle crash at 5:52 a.m. March 13 on Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township.
Police said he was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am north/west when he lost control of it. The car went across the left lane of travel, where it was struck by a 2018 Ford F-250 that was traveling north/west and being driven by a 34-year-old Walnutport man.
Police said the Grand Am had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the F-250 was able to be driven from the scene.
Police said the Coplay man was injured and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, for an evaluation.
The Walnutport man had a minor injury that did not require him to be transported to a medical facility, police said.
• Stephen G. Miller, 59, of Lehighton, had suspected serious injuries in a car-motorcycle crash at 3:27 p.m. March 9 on Fairyland Road, Franklin Township.
The operator of a 2008 Harley-Davidson, Miller was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township, police said.
They said the crash involved the motorcycle and a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek operated by Destiny B. Lazar, 25, also of Lehighton. They said upon arrival they found the motorcycle on its side and the Subaru with minor damage.
Lazar, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, according to police.
The motorcycle was removed from the scene.
• Owen D. Dreher, 19, of Northampton, was uninjured after a one-vehicle crash at 7:24 a.m. March 14 on Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township.
Police said he was driving a 1984 Chevrolet K20 pickup truck westbound when it struck ice and went out of control. They said the vehicle hit a retaining wall, spun around and struck the concrete median.
The pickup was towed from the scene.
