Inside Looking Out: It’s time to save the day

With so much hate and division in the world now, sometimes I think we’re living inside a Marvel or DC Universe with good guys fighting bad guys, and we need to call on superheroes to help bring us together.

I call on Ironman.

Go to the Middle East. You have superior intellect and strength. Outsmart them. Use your forces of energy to disable their weapons. Hurt no one. Have countries sign real peace treaties in honor of all the children killed by the bombs.

I call on Wonder Woman.

Use your Lasso of Truth, your unbreakable enchanted rope forged by the Greek Olympian God Hephaestus. Toss your rope around everyone elected to an office, every man and woman who serves the public. Compel them to tell the truth. Imagine how better our world would be if no one could lie. That would accomplish two very important things. We could trust the moral character of every elected official. They would serve us instead of serving themselves.

I call on Spiderman.

We need you for your precognition ability. You have psychic ability to gain knowledge of events before they occur. We have many concerns about what kind of country our children will inherit from us. If there is trouble on the horizon, we need you to warn those who will be causing it so they will know the consequences of their actions and, of course, warn us, too, so we can prepare.

I call upon Invisible Woman.

She can infiltrate any force field without being detected. She would be a superhero spy to report dangerous and illegal activities of our enemies to the group of superheroes so that they may take appropriate action to keep us all safe.

I call on Batman.

His moral character, his ability to do the right thing is surpassed by none. He’s the fighter for righteousness. We need him to stop crime committed by the wealthy and the poor. He can protect our children in their schools when an intruder tries to harm them.

I call on Captain America.

Yes! He’s the man, the beacon of light for all Americans. He’s a leader with a relentless dedication to do the right thing. We need to trust the words and actions of good leaders today, and with Captain America we can. He has a splendid history of destroying evil. In World War II, “Cap” punched, kicked and defeated the Nazis and the Japanese. He is the Clint Eastwood, the John Wayne who will beat the bad guys and rid our country of corruption.

I call on Daredevil.

In this world where nobody fights fair and it’s winner take all in battles and wars, this superhero will get down and dirty and battle them on their terms. He uses a tire as a sling shot and a car engine as his ammo. He not only can dodge bullets, but he can also swipe them away when they get too close. He’s defeated Purple Man, the Owl and Electro, all villains. He’s a good friend of Spiderman, and together they are unstoppable forces who have never lost a single battle.

I call on the Incredible Hulk.

After being exposed to massive amounts of radiation, this superhero attained limitless physical powers, and the angrier he gets, the stronger he becomes. He’s a giant who can leap across the universe with speed and power. The Hulk is virtually indestructible because he can regenerate parts of his body that become injured. One clap of his hands and he shatters glass, extinguishes fires and deafens his enemies. He can breathe underwater and is immune to diseases and poisons. We need him on our side to combat global terrorism. He’ll defeat anything the bad guys throw at us.

I call on Mr. Fantastic.

This guy can change his shape. A second name I might give him would be Rubber Band Man for his elasticity. He can jump high into the air and then slam into the ground, leaving destruction where he lands. His greatest power, however, is his intellect. He’s a bona fide genius and has unmatched intelligence in the fields of physics and engineering that allow him to solve complex problems. He’s the smartest superhero in the Marvel Universe. He can invent new technology on the run. Mr. Fantastic can outsmart artificial intelligence that will be used to create new weapons that could annihilate the world. He can disable the technology of weaponry to protect the planet.

I call on Superman.

The greatest superhero of them all has incredible strength and can fly in leaps and bounds at super speed. He has x-ray vision and immense stamina. His ability to see through buildings makes him an ideal spy, along with Invisible Woman, against any country we deem a threat to our national security.

We believe that superheroes only exist in comic books and movies. Apart from their supernatural powers, however, their most important abilities are human.

They have superior intellect, unwavering honesty, 24/7 vigilance, moral righteousness, extraordinary resilience, pure goodness and perpetual persistence. Here’s an undeniable truth: We have these superpower abilities within all of us.

Superman said, “It’s not about where you were born or what powers you have or what you wear on your chest, it’s about what you do. It’s about action. If you give people an ideal to strive towards, they will race behind you. They will stumble and fall, but in time they will join you. In time, they will help you accomplish wonders.”

We call on Superhumans.

Help us accomplish wonders. Bring us together. Unite us in purpose. The great Mighty Mouse said, “Mr. Trouble never hangs around when he hears the mighty sound. Here I come to save the day.”

The moment is now. Our country needs us. It’s time to save the day.
