Carbon Co. housing talks slated for March 25

A need for affordable housing is the topic of discussion for an upcoming conference.

On March 25, the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, in partnership with ReImagine Carbon and the Community Development of the Poconos, will hold “More Front Doors for Carbon County” at the Orioles Community Center, 475 Orioles Drive, Suite E, Lehighton.

The event starts at 9 a.m. with breakfast and networking, followed by the program beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch and a final discussion will take place after the program.

Speakers for the event include Samar Jha, director of government affairs at AARP, who oversees the company’s housing core team and housing enterprise strategy; as well as Rich Kisner, executive director; and Josh Nespoli, deputy director of the Community Strategies Group.

The goal of the event is to bring together community leaders, businesses, elected officials and nonprofit organizations to “better understand the county’s housing challenges, including the growing need for senior housing, and actively engage in shaping collaborative, solution-focused approaches to reimagining housing in Carbon County.”
